The present invention relates to a medicament delivery device (10) comprising: a cartridge holder (14) to which an injection needle holder (39) can be fixed, the injection needle holder (39) holding an injection needle (17) having a proximal end (42) and a distal end (43), the proximal end (42) being protected by an inner injection needle cap (40) detachably connected to the injection needle holder (39), the cartridge holder (14) being mounted in a housing (11) and configured to receive a cartridge (15) of medicament; a cap assembly (12) detachably connected to the housing (11); and a grippingmechanism (86) configured to remove the inner injection needle cap (40) from the injection needle holder (39) when the cap assembly (12) is pulled away from the cartridge holder (14).
