The cup comprises an oil-water separation cavity and a water storage cavity which are partitioned from each other by a partition plate. An electromagnetic valve is arranged at the bottom of the partition plate. A first water port and a second water port are separately formed in the two sides of the electromagnetic valve. A liquid level sensor is arranged in the oil-water separation cavity. A drain pipe is arranged in the water storage cavity. The vertical position ofa water inlet of the drain pipe is located above the second water port of the electromagnetic valve. By adoption of the fuel filter with the automatic water discharging function and the automatic water discharging method, water accumulated in the cup can be automatically discharged, and damage to an engine caused when an operator forgets to discharge water manually is reduced; and air is effectively prevented from entering the fuel filter in the exhausting process, and thus, normal starting and operation of the engine are ensured.
