Abstract

The technique used to coordinate the differences between the runtime operations of the process plant and the configuration of the process plant allows the process plant to be operated in a predictableand consistent manner. Additionally, techniques for coordinating differences in process plants enable efficient detection and coordination of inappropriate parameter values prior to including these inappropriate values in the configuration. These techniques reduce the downtime risk of online operations of process plants caused by troubleshooting object configurations. The configuration engineer can provide one or more coordination instructions to coordinate the differences; then the configuration application updates the process control environment of the process plant based on one or more coordination instructions. In some cases, the differences are resolved by updating the object's configuration file. In other cases, the difference is resolved by updating the runtime instantiation of theobject.
