Benefits of technology

The technical effect described this innovation improves how well an electromagnetic signal travels through space without being blocked or at least minimized due to its own gaps between conductors. This results in better performance compared with previous designs that had more openings within them.

Problems solved by technology

This patented technical problem addressed by this patents relates to developing an improved design that allows for wider range frequencies without increasing size or complexity while maintaining excellent signal quality at mm wavelengths.

Abstract

The invention discloses an integrated substrate gap waveguide via hole cluster feed antenna. The antenna comprises a radiation structure and an integrated substrate gap waveguide structure. The integrated substrate gap waveguide structure comprises an electromagnetic band gap structure used for shielding electromagnetic radiation energy, a feed structure used for transmitting energy, an upper dielectric plate, a lower dielectric plate and a spacing dielectric plate arranged between the upper dielectric plate and the lower dielectric plate, the radiation structure is formed on the upper surfaceof the upper dielectric plate, the feed structure is formed on the lower surface of the upper dielectric plate and is provided with a metal via hole cluster composed of at least one first metal via hole penetrating the upper dielectric plate, and the electromagnetic band gap structure is formed on the lower dielectric plate. According to the invention, a linearly polarized antenna and a circularly polarized antenna with the wide bandwidth and the high gain can be achieved, and the integrated substrate gap waveguide via hole cluster feed antenna is suitable for radio frequency, microwave, millimeter wave and terahertz wave applications, and can be used for radio frequency, microwave, millimeter wave and terahertz wave antennas, especially 5G millimeter wave antennas, such as 5G millimeterwave antennas.
