Abstract

The invention provides a hinge assembly for removably mounting a tailgate to a vehicle. The hinge assembly comprises a first bracket which is connected to a first part and comprises an engagement member, and a second bracket which is connected to a second part and comprises an elastic member. A pivot shaft is pivotally connected to the first bracket and the second bracket. The engagement member engages the elastic member when the first part is at a first position, and disengages from the elastic member when the first part is at a second position.
