In at least some embodiments, the method generally includes obtaining electrical data (e.g., voltage data, current data) about one or more portions of the vehicle electronics, determining a plurality of resistor groups (each corresponding to a portion of the vehicle electronics) ), evaluating a resistance group by comparing the determined resistance to a resistance set threshold, and identifying high resistance group candidates based on the evaluation. Thus, if it is determined that the resistance of a resistor set has exceeded the (associated) resistance set threshold, at least one electrical component of the resistor set may be determined to be the cause of (or at least contributed to) the high resistance fault.
