Abstract

The invention relates to automatic turret yarn winding equipment. The present invention provides an apparatus and method for precise positioning of a spindle in a turret winder during bobbin changeover. The method involves the step of rotating the turret during at least two discrete rotational movements performed at a controlled speed, whereby the empty bobbin assumes its exact winding position during the bobbin changing process. In an important inventive aspect of the present invention, the turret rotation is controlled by sensing the current in the motor used to control the spindles. The invention also discloses a system for controlling the movement of the turret and the spindle. It comprises a first control system (10) for controlling the rotational movement of the turret and a second control system (11) for controlling the rotational movement of the spindle. It also includes a master control system (12) controlling the two systems (10, 11) and receiving signals / information from and sending commands to the two systems (10, 11).
