Dose counter assembly for inhaler

Dose counter assemblies are provided herein which allow for the counting of used doses of a medical inhaler. In one aspect, one dose counter ring is utilized. This provides for dose counting but with inherent limitations in the number of doses which may be counted. In a second, and preferred, aspect of the subject invention, two cooperating does counter rings are utilized which allow for adjacent digits to be displayed, thereby allowing an increased number of doses to be counted. Advantageously, with the subject invention, due to mechanical interactions, reliable dose counting can be achieved with the subject invention.

Inhaler counter

An inhaler for delivery of a medicament by inhalation is disclosed. The inhaler comprises a dispensing mechanism, the dispensing mechanism being configured to dispense a dose of medicament on actuation. The inhaler further comprises a dose counting mechanism comprising a counter and a translating member. The translating member comprises a pawl. The counter comprises a first count wheel, a second count wheel and an intermediate wheel engaged with the second count wheel and in selective engagement with the first count wheel. When the inhaler is fired to dispense a dose of medicament, the dispensing mechanism moves the translating member in a substantially linear direction. The pawl thus rotates the first count wheel, and as the first count wheel rotates, the intermediate wheel is selectively engaged thereby selectively rotating the second count wheel to count the doses of the inhaler.

inhaler

An inhaler for delivery of a medicament by inhalation is disclosed. The inhaler comprises a dose counting mechanism comprising a counter. The inhaler further comprises a dispensing mechanism, the dispensing mechanism being configured, on actuation, to dispense a dose of medicament and to adjust the counter. The inhaler further comprises a resetting member configured for movement in a first direction between a first position and a second position to reset the dispensing mechanism, and a prevention mechanism comprising a pair of first and second engaging members. If the movement of the resetting member in the first direction is reversed before it reaches the second position, the first and second engaging members prevent further actuation of the dispensing mechanism until the resetting member is again moved in the first direction. At least one of the first and second engaging members is configured to resiliently flex, under load, into abutment with a substantially rigid component of the inhaler. Preferably the dose counting mechanism counter indicates the number of remaining doses in, or the number of dispensed doses from, the inhaler.

Tablet feeder

Tablets are delivered from a tablet storage case 3 mounted on a case support table 4, and when the tablets are passed through a delivery passage 9 formed in the case support table 3, quantity of the passed tablets is counted by a counting means 10. A start state of mounting of the tablet storage case 4 on the case support table 3 is detected by case detection means 8, 19, and the counting sensor 10 is kept in off state until the start state of mounting of the photon-electron conversion region 4 is detected by the case detection means 8, 19 and is set to on state after the detection. This ensures prevention of erroneous operation due to the mounting and dismounting of the tablet storage case 4 on and from the case support table 3.

Bio-sensor with hard-direction field

A magnetic sensor for identifying small magnetic particles bound to a substrate includes a regular, planar orthogonal array of MTJ cells formed within or beneath that substrate. Each MTJ cell has a high aspect ratio and positions of stable magnetic equilibrium along an easy magnetic axis and positions of unstable magnetic equilibrium along a hard magnetic axis. By initializing the magnetizations of each MTJ cell in its unstable hard-axis position, the presence of even a small magnetic particle can exert a sufficient perturbative strayfield to tip the magnetization to its stable position. The magnetization change in an MTJ cell can be measured after each of two successive opposite polarity magnetizations of a bound particle and the presence of the particle thereby detected.

Passenger counting arrangement

An arrangement of counting passengers in an elevator using two separate counting mechanisms is disclosed. The elevator car typically has a curtain of light arranged to the door and a load weighing device arranged to measure the weight of the elevator car. From the information recorded by the curtain of light and the load weighing device, it is possible to count the number of passengers. The reliability of the counting results can be improved by processing the counting results for forming a combined counting result that provides a more reliable counting result when the independent counts deviate from each other.
