Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a communication method and system for converging a 5th-Generation (5G) communication system for supporting higher data rates beyond a 4th-Generation (4G) system witha technology for Internet of Things (IoT). The present disclosure may be applied to intelligent services based on the 5G communication technology and the IoT-related technology, such as smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car, connected car, health care, digital education, smart retail, security and safety services. A method of a terminal in a wireless communication system is provided. The method includes receiving downlink control information (DCI) including frequency domain resource allocation information on a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) from a base station, identifying an allocated resource for transmitting or receiving data based on the frequency domain resource allocation information, and transmitting or receiving the data on the allocated resource. When the frequency domain resource allocation information is based on a first bandwidth part of a first bandwidth and the DCI is for a second bandwidth part corresponding to a second bandwidth, the allocated resource is identified by applying a scaling factor based on the first bandwidth and the second bandwidth.
