[0016] As a general introduction, the present invention relates to a process for the manufacture of purified aromatic carboxylic acids utilizing efficient heat exchange configurations in the preheating of crude aromatic carboxylic acids prior to purification. Prior to purification of the crude aromatic carboxylic acid, the crude aromatic carboxylic acid is heated in a preheating zone using high pressure steam. At least a portion of the high pressure condensate resulting from condensation of the high pressure steam in the preheating zone may be recycled to provide at least a portion of the boiler feed water from which the high pressure steam is generated. The method avoids depressurizing the high pressure condensate, resulting in fuel savings and a reduction in overall energy costs compared to prior art systems. The method also avoids the capital expenditure of condensate flash drums required in some prior art systems for generating steam at various lower pressure steam levels....
