Problems solved by technology

However, in some cases, attaching the cap to the sample port may place pressure within the channels of the kit, which may exert undesired forces on the sample material
Also, the cap attached to the sample port can be unreliable because e.g. the cap is an extra loose part, the cap can break, etc.

Embodiment Construction

[0023] In the following detailed description, several specific embodiments of apparatuses, systems and methods are disclosed. It is to be understood that other embodiments are conceivable and can be made without departing from the scope or spirit of the invention. Reference is made to the accompanying drawings which form a part hereof. It should be understood that other embodiments, which may not be described and / or shown, are of course conceivable. Therefore, the following detailed description should not be considered as limiting.

[0024] The present invention relates to bulk acoustic wave (BAW) resonators and their use as biosensors. In particular, the invention relates to devices (such as kits) comprising bulk acoustic wave resonators, and the invention can be used without covering the sample well port through which sample material is introduced into the kit.

[0025] like figure 1As shown schematically in FIG. 1 , a reagent cartridge 100 may be used as part of a syste...

Abstract

A cartridge for collecting sample material may include a cartridge body and a fluid reservoir. The cartridge body may define a capless sample well port configured to receive the sample material and afluidic channel in fluid communication with the capless sample well port. The fluidic channel may include a sample fluidic channel portion and may be configured such that an effect of gravity on the sample material within the sample fluidic channel portion does not overcome a capillary action of the fluidic channel. The fluidic channel may extend between the capless sample well port and the fluidreservoir. The fluidic channel may be configured to direct the sample material towards the fluid reservoir when a pressure is applied within the fluidic channel.

Description

[0001] related applications [0002] This application claims priority to U.S. Patent Application No. 16 / 146,121 filed September 28, 2018, which claims U.S. Provisional Application No. 16 / 146,121 filed July 6, 2018 Priority of Application Serial No. 62 / 694,510, the entire contents of which are hereby incorporated. technical field [0003] Embodiments of the invention generally relate to bulk acoustic wave (BAW) resonators and their use as biosensors. In particular, the invention relates to a cartridge configured to receive sample material and the sample material is contained within the cartridge without covering the sample port. Background technique [0004] Many instruments and measurement techniques exist for diagnostic testing of materials for medical, veterinary medicine, environmental, biohazard, bioterrorism, agricultural and food safety purposes. Traditionally, diagnostic tests have required long response times to obtain meaningful data, involved expensive, remote, o...
