The method comprises the steps of determining the frequency dynamic variation of a power system in an adjustment process according to obtained unbalanced power of a power grid at an initial moment of the adjustment process, frequency deviation of the power system, a system equivalent damping coefficient and a system equivalent inertia time constant; determining an active power reference value received by the energy storage device in theadjustment process according to the frequency dynamic variation of the power system in the adjustment process; determining the total energy absorbed by the energy storage device and the total energy released by the energy storage device participating in the adjustment process according to the active power reference value and the obtained duration of the adjustment process; and determining the capacity of the energy storage device according to the maximum value of the total energy absorbed by the energy storage device and the maximum value of the total energy released by the energy storage device in the process of participating in adjustment under different initial conditions.
