The method comprises the following steps: scanning a bevel gear to be detected by using photographic measurement equipment, and determining a three-dimensional point cloud model of the bevel gear; preprocessing the bevel gear wear defect point cloud data in the bevel gear three-dimensional point cloud model, and determining the preprocessed bevel gear wear defect point cloud; establishing a standard coordinate system according to the bevel gear three-dimensional point cloud model; based on the standard coordinate system, bevel gear contour information is extracted; and determining bevel gear wear parameters according to the bevel gear wear defect point cloud, the fitted conical contour shape of the outer contour of the bevel gear and the fitted conical contour shape of the inner contour of the bevel gear.
