Embodiment Construction

[0027] A known technique for improving the performance of biometric process is to combine a variety of certification process (or "fuse"), whether or not it is biological identification. For example, in the context of a herd biometric, the ear biological identification process of the left ear and the right ear can be fused.

[0028] Score-level fusion can be used in fusion. In the former case, a separate biological identification fraction (based on the left ear and the left-stored configuration file) is calculated for the left ear and the right ear, and then combined to form an overall biological identification score. The overall biological identification fraction is then compared to the threshold to generate decisions regarding whether the user is an authorized user. In the latter case, a separate biometric score is calculated for the left ear and the right ear, but the fraction is separately compared to one or more thresholds to generate corresponding to each of the left ear and ...

Abstract

A biometric processor comprises one or more inputs configured to receive the first ear biometric data acquired in respect of a first ear of a user and the second ear biometric data acquire d in respect of a second ear of the user; a processing module configured to perform a biometric algorithm on the first ear biometric data and the second ear biometric data, based on a comparison of the first ear biometric data to a first stored ear biometric template for an authorised user and a comparison of the second ear biometric data to a second stored ear biometric template for the authorised user, to obtain the respective first and second biometric scores; a fusion module configured to apply first and second weights to the respective first and second biometric scores to obtain the first and second weighted biometric scores, and to combine at least the first and second weighted biometric scores to generate an overall biometric score, wherein the first and second weights are different to each other, and a biometric result is based on the overall biometric score.

Description

Technical field [0001] Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to biological identification processes, devices, and machine readable media, and in particular, to process, devices, and machine readable media that utilize ears biological identification data. Background technique [0002] User ears (whether the outer portion (called auricle or outer ear), ear canal, or both) can be used vary depending on the individual, and therefore it can be used as a biometric characteristics of the user. It is positioned adjacent to the ear or one or more speakers in the ear or the transducer generates stimuli, and is similarly positioned close to the ear or one or more microphones in the ear to detect the response of the ear to stimulation. One or more features can be extracted from the response signal, and it is used to characterize the individual. [0003] For example, the ear canal is a resonant system, so a feature extracted from the response signal is the resonant frequency of the ear...
