Abstract

The invention provides a method and a device for expanding a fragment in a block chain system. The block chain system comprises a first fragment, and the first fragment comprises a first node. The method comprises the following steps that a first node receives a capacity expansion request comprising information of a first block to be executed; after the first block is executed, the first node sends a first world state corresponding to the first block to the second node; at least one second block is executed, and each piece of state change information corresponding to each second block is recorded; after the first world state is sent, the first node sends each piece of state change information to the second node; the second node belongs to a second fragment to be added into the block chain system; and the second node obtains the initial world state of the second fragment based on the received first world state and each piece of state change information. Therefore, automatic capacity expansion of the block chain system is realized, and the problem that the number of fragments in the block chain system cannot be dynamically expanded along with increase of the number of transactions is solved.
