Abstract

The invention relates to medical application of saikoside D in promoting subcutaneous white fat browning and preventing or treating obesity. The saikoside D is a saponin component extracted from roots and stems of radix bupleuri, and belongs to pentacyclic triterpenoid saponin. A C57BL/6J obese mouse model is induced by using high fat diet, and after saikoside D is given, the weight increase of the mouse is slowed down, the glucose tolerance is improved, the insulin sensitivity of the mouse is enhanced, the contents of serum TC and TG are reduced, the subcutaneous fat cell inflammation is reduced, and the expression of a white fat browning related target gene is up-regulated. Results show that saikosaponin D can prevent and treat obesity by promoting subcutaneous white fat browning.
