Abstract

Provided herein is an intra-aortic balloon catheter comprising a tube, and a sheath seal comprising an elastomeric housing having a proximal end, a distal end, a lumen disposed between the proximal end of the housing and the distal end of the housing, where the housing comprises an impingement device configured to impinge on the proximal end of the housing and to impinge on the distal end of the housing. Wherein the inner cavity is configured to slidably receive the tube therein, and the strike device is configured to engage an outer surface of the tube and apply a force to the outer surface to prevent the tube from sliding relative to the sheath seal when the strike device is in a first state.
