An illustrative embodiment of the assembly provides intracardiac images for medical use using an echocardiographic catheter. Placement of an imaging catheter at the imaging site may be difficult due to cardiac anatomy or the desired image. Abstract

An intracardiac delivery catheter or assembly is disclosed. The delivery catheter includes a delivery lumen and a flow assist balloon inflatable through an inflation lumen. In the illustrated embodiment, the delivery lumen has a diameter dimension of at least 8F, 9F, 10F, or between 8F-14F for insertion of an intracardiac echocardiography catheter (ICE) for placement at an intracardiac imaging site. In described embodiments, delivery catheters are used for placement of ICE catheters in pulmonary arteries or other treatment sites using asymmetric balloons having asymmetric contours and portions to guide the delivery catheters, for example, into the right ventricle and pulmonary arteries.
