Embodiment Construction

[0031] The present disclosure relates to a cloud-centric platform approach for collaboration and connection on a 3D virtual environment. Aspects of the present disclosure provide incremental spread in a cloud-centric platform for collaboration and connectivity.

[0032] A content management system can use hierarchical relationships between elements in a scene graph to maintain a scene description representing the 3D world. In some aspects, clients can exchange delta information between versions of content being edited and / or shared between clients. Each delta infoset may be assigned a value in a sequence of values that defines the order in which the delta infosets are applied to the scene graph to produce a synchronized version of the scene graph. When the client sends delta information to the server, the client can wait for the server to provide the value, and then apply the delta information based on the value after receiving it. While waiting for this value, delta infos...

Abstract

The invention discloses incremental propagation in cloud-centric collaborative and connected platforms. A content management system may use hierarchical relationships between elements in a scene graph to maintain a scene description representing a 3D world. Clients may exchange delta information between versions of content being edited and / or shared between clients. Each incremental information set may be assigned a value in a sequence of values that defines an order in which the incremental information set is applied to generate a synchronized version of the scene graph. The client may follow a conflict resolution rule to consistently resolve conflicts between incremental sets of information. Changes to structured elements of content may be programmatically represented to maintain structural consistency between clients, while changes to unstructured elements may be declaratively represented to reduce data size. To store and manage content, structured elements may be referenced using node identifiers, and unstructured elements may be assigned to the node identifiers as field-value pairs.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application is related to a U.S. non-provisional application filed on March 22, 2020 entitled "Cloud-Centric Platform for Collaboration and Connectivity on 3D Virtual Environments" Application No. 16 / 826,296 is related to U.S. Nonprovisional Application No. 16 / 538,594, filed August 12, 2019, entitled "Platform and Method for Collaborative generation of Content." Each of these applications is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety. Background technique [0003] Game engines—such as Unreal Engine, Unity, and CryEngine—have been used to enable users to collaborate within a gaming environment in a fundamental form of content creation. However, traditional game engines are not particularly well-suited for collaborative authoring of high-quality content in three-dimensional (3D) worlds. For example, game engines are often designed to optimize fidelity and consistency for fast reproduction. Thus, each client ...
