Embodiment Construction

[0021] The present invention refers to in vitro analyzers for human or veterinary diagnostics. The analyzer of the present invention can carry out simplified grouping tests, such as "Ch7" or "Ch20" grouping, and can also choose to add a single test that can be increased according to user requirements without unnecessary reagent consumption or redundant testing Program. The device is easy to use and gives the user the opportunity to place multiple patient samples onto the device, which will automatically process the test without further intervention by the user.

[0022] To enable such a compact design, the present invention also provides a test unit holder, such as a test unit holder, which includes a guide rail for positioning a fluid probe, such as a drawer with a test unit or a source of fluid being processed. Suction or dispense nozzle.

[0023] The test unit may be a slide containing the reagents necessary for the analysis, the so-called dry slide technique as described...

Abstract

A test element holder for an automated analyzer includes: a body portion for holding at least one test element; and a guide adapted to receive a probe, such as an aspirating or dispense nozzle to position the probe in a desired registration with a test element. In a preferred embodiment, the test element holder further includes a cover disposed over at least a portion of the body portion and test element and the guide comprises at least one opening in said cover. In a preferred embodiment, the analyzer is a desktop analyzer and / or a veterinary analyzer. A method of dispensing or aspirating a fluid into or onto a test element includes: providing a test element having identifying marks thereon; providing a stationary probe; providing a cover disposed over at least a portion of test element, wherein said cover has a plurality of openings adapted to receive the probe to position the probe in a desired registration with the test element; reading the identifying marks to determine which test is to be performed; and moving the test element and cover into a position to align one of the plurality of holes into alignment with the probe depending on the test to be performed.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention generally relates to benchtop analyzers. In particular, the present invention relates to a test unit holder comprising a guide rail for positioning probes, such as aspiration or dispensing nozzles, relative to the test unit. Background technique [0002] Benchtop analyzers, particularly for veterinary use or patient point of care (POC) use, are well known in the art. For example, Abaxis Vetscan TM and HemagenAnalyst TM Both are benchtop analyzers for veterinary use. Vitros DT-60 TM is a benchtop analyzer manufactured by Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics. Other known analyzers include the point-of-care analyzers described in US Patents 5,968,329, 5,747,666, 5,983,734, and 5,787,015, all of which are incorporated herein in their entirety. US Patent 4,965,049 also describes a modular analyzer system. US Patent 5,983,734 describes a modular automated diagnostic system. US Patent Application 2002 / 0098116 (the '116 application) describ...
