Embodiment Construction

[0040] Several preferred embodiments of the present invention are described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. In the following description, detailed descriptions of known functions and structures involved here are omitted for the sake of brevity.

[0041] The present invention provides a method of using one or two pilot channels and adjusting transmission power of each pilot channel in a 1xEVDO mobile communication system in which a mobile station determines a reverse data rate. The two pilot signals transmitted by the mobile station are divided into a primary pilot signal and a secondary pilot signal. The base station uses the primary pilot signal to perform power control on the reverse signal and performs channel estimation, and the base station restrictively uses the secondary pilot signal to perform channel estimation on the reverse signal.

Abstract

PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for controlling reverse power in a wireless communication system in which a mobile terminal determines a reverse data transfer rate are provided to enhance reverse traffic reception performance of a base station by using a pilot signal with suitable transmission power. CONSTITUTION: A data transfer rate of the ith frame is 38.4kbps and a mobile terminal controls a data transfer rate up to 76.8kbps in the (i+1)th frame(310). After a base station receives the (i+1)th frame data, it recognizes that the mobile terminal uses the data transfer rate of 76.8kbps and determines that the mobile terminal has included additional pilot power required for channel compensation to a secondary pilot signal in the (i+1)th frame and then transmitted it(330). In the (i+2)th frame, the data transfer rate is controlled to be grater than that of the (i+1)th frame and the base station receives an RRI(Reverse Rate Indicator) that the mobile terminal has transmitted in the (i+2)th frame, recognizes that the secondary pilot signal has been transmitted, and uses it for channel compensation(340). In the (i+3)th frame, the data transfer rate is controlled to be smaller than that of the (i+2)th frame. In this case, the mobile terminal does not transmit the secondary pilot signal(350). In the (i+4)th frame, the data transfer rate is not changed compared to the (i+3)th frame. In this case, the base station does not require additional pilot power to receive the (i+4)th frame data, the mobile terminal does not transmit the secondary pilot signal, and the base station determines that the secondary pilot signal has not been transmitted(360).

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention generally relates to a method and device for reverse power control in a mobile communication system, and more particularly to such a method and device for use in mobile communications where the data rate of the reverse traffic channel is determined by a mobile station In the system, the transmission power of the reverse pilot (pilot) channel is controlled to improve the reverse service receiving performance of the base station in combination with the data rate of the reverse traffic channel. Background technique [0002] Typical mobile communication systems can be classified into systems for supporting voice services and systems for supporting data services. Typical examples of such systems include Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) systems. Current CDMA systems that support only voice services comply with Interim Standard-95 (IS-95). As communication technologies have developed, mobile communication systems have evolved to su...
