The oil separator includes: an oil separation device having an oil separation space in which oil is separated from oil-containing refrigerant; a discharge pipe whose one end is connected to the compressor and the other end is connected to the oil separation device to remove the oil from the compressor. The oil-containing refrigerant discharged from the machine is guided to the oil separation device; and the oil drop forming unit is provided in the discharge pipe so that at least a part of the oil particles contained in the refrigerant passing through the discharge pipe enters the oil separation device in the state of oil droplets.
