Abstract

An optical scanning apparatus includes a light source that emits light. A diffraction device diffracts light emitted from the light source to image the light onto an image forming surface in accordance with image information. A diffraction controller sends diffraction information to the diffraction device to form a diffraction grating image on the diffraction device in a predetermined pattern to image the light in accordance with the image information.
