The invention is a group communication method, comprising: dividing members in a group into several ringlike local subgroups, each having a subgroup representative node; composing the subgroup representative nodes into a ringlike global subgroup; each subgroup representative node receives the information sent by the member nodes in the local subgroup where it is, and transmits the information to other subgroup representative nodes; and receives the information sent by other subgroup representative nodes and transmits the information to the member nodes. And the invention also discloses a corresponding group communication system. When the members in the group change, the invention only needs to transmit the member change information in the local subgroups, largely reducing number of times of transmitting member change information, and reducing communiation overhead when member relation changes, thus making the group communication system able to support large scale distributed systems.
