[0031] Figure 1 shows a schematic diagram of a network in which the invention is used. The network includes 802-11 wireless network 120 and wired network 118 . The wired network 118 can be any known local area network (LAN), such as an Ethernet LAN operating at 100 Mbps. Wired network 118 connects to various servers and the Internet or a corporate intranet (not shown). The wireless network 120 is a wireless LAN created by radio frequency, and utilizes the protocol described in the IEEE 802.11 specification for wireless LAN. Access points 102 , 106 , 110 and 114 are connected to LAN 118 . As will be explained later, each access point includes a wireless adapter that allows clients, such as client 124 and client 122, to communicate with devices on LAN 118 or the Internet.
