Problems solved by technology

[0003] The disadvantage of this approach is that it requires another sensor to be configured or this monitoring can only be done under certain operating conditions
If this operating condition occurs only infrequently, the intake air pressure sensor may have failed during prolonged operation

Embodiment Construction

[0014] The present invention will be described below by taking an intake air pressure sensor as an example. However, the present invention is not limited to this use. The measure according to the invention can be used in various sensors in which a change in an operating parameter causes a corresponding change in the sensor output signal. The inventive measure can be used in particular with sensors for detecting the air quantity or a parameter which is dependent on or indicates the intake pressure. This measure can be used in particular in sensors for detecting the intake air quantity.

[0015] A sensor for detecting the intake air pressure and its associated analog / digital converter is indicated at 100 in FIG. 1 . The analog / digital converter supplies a signal UP to characteristic map 110 , which corresponds to the intake pressure. In this case, the parameters are converted into a signal PR which in turn is passed to a filter 120 . The output signal P of the filter 120 rea...

Abstract

A method and device for monitoring a sensor, in particular, a sensor for determining a pressure parameter which characterises the pressure of the inlet air in an internal combustion engine is disclosed. An error is recognised when a change in an operating parameter which characterises the injected amount of fuel has no corresponding change in the output parameter from the sensor as a result.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a method and a device for monitoring a sensor, in particular a sensor for monitoring a pressure parameter indicative of the pressure of the air fed into an internal combustion engine. Background technique [0002] A device and method for monitoring a sensor which detects a pressure parameter which corresponds to the air pressure entering the internal combustion engine is known from DE-4032451A1. Various monitoring methods and devices for intake air pressure sensors are described therein. The output signal of the intake pressure sensor is compared with a reference parameter. On the one hand, the output signal of the second intake air pressure sensor is used as a reference parameter. In another variant, the output signal of the intake pressure sensor is compared with a barometric pressure sensor under certain operating conditions, such as low load and low speed. In a fixed operating state, the measured value is compared with a...
