[0032] A laser printer will be described as a first embodiment of the image forming apparatus of the present invention.

[0033] Fig. 5 is a schematic configuration diagram of a laser printer as a first embodiment of the present invention. The present printer 14 includes a laser scanner 11 , a transfer roller 12 and a fixing unit 13 , and has a structure in which a process cartridge C is detachably attachable to the main body.

[0034] The laser scanner 11 emits a laser beam 10 corresponding to input image information. The laser beam 10 is mirror-reflected and irradiated to a predetermined position of the photosensitive drum 1 as an image carrier provided in the process cartridge C. As shown in FIG. Thereby, a latent image is formed on the photosensitive drum 1 , the latent image is developed by supplying a developer (toner), and the developed image is transferred to the recording material P by the transfer roller 12 . The recording material P on which the image has been tra...

[0071] Next, a printer as a second embodiment will be described.

[0072] The printer of this embodiment differs from the first embodiment described above in that three speed modes are prepared. Since the other configurations and operations are the same, the same reference numerals are attached to the same structural elements, and descriptions thereof are omitted.

[0073] As the three speed modes, for example, a full speed mode (300mm / sec), a half speed mode (150mm / sec), and a 1 / 3 speed mode (100mm / sec) are set. For example, as the paper type, set the full speed mode for plain paper, the half speed mode for thick paper, and the 1 / 3 speed mode for OHT. It can also be set to change only according to the size of the paper regardless of the type of paper.

[0074] In this case, full-speed mode and half-speed mode show the same image 3 The same change, but in 1 / 3 speed mode, since the charging frequency and charging current are 1000Hz and 1000μA, the detection voltage value is...

[0081] Next, the printer of the third embodiment will be described.

[0082] The printer according to this embodiment differs from the first embodiment described above in that a memory is provided on the cartridge unit. Since other configurations and operations are the same, the same reference numerals are attached to the same structural elements, and their descriptions are omitted.

[0083] like Figure 13 As shown, the memory 20 is a nonvolatile memory (NVRAM) provided on the outer wall of the cartridge C, provided on the main body side, and performs data communication with a data transmission and reception unit (not shown).

[0084] The memory 20 stores δ for correcting the detection voltage in the half-speed mode, and further stores the toner remaining amount detection voltage value (hereinafter referred to as PAF) when the toner is full (full). Figure 15 ).

[0085] Here, when the toner is full, it means the state where the plate antenna 15 is completely covered by th...

Abstract

Provided are an image forming device and cartridge assembly, and developer dose detecting method of the image forming device. In the image forming apparatus has full- and half-speeds as image forming speeds, in the full-speed mode, a detected voltage value conforming to the electrostatic capacity between a developing roller and plate antenna of a process cartridge is converted to the amount of toner remaining in the apparatus. In the half-speed mode, on the other hand, the amount of remaining toner is found using a value obtained by adding a correction value delta to the detected voltage value conforming to the electrostatic capacity between the developing roller and plate antenna. As a result, the amount of toner can be sensed accurately even if the electrification conditions of an image carrier change.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus and a cartridge assembly using developer as toner, a developer amount detection method of the image forming apparatus, and a memory device mounted on the cartridge assembly. Background technique [0002] Conventionally, an image forming apparatus having a developer accommodating member for accommodating developer and a developer carrier for accommodating developer is known. In such an image forming apparatus, a technique of detecting the amount of developer in the developer accommodating device using a voltage applied to the developer carrier is known. [0003] In the prior art, in the case of detecting the amount of the developer in the developer storage container, a voltage is applied to the developer carrier, and the amount of the developer is detected by detecting a developer amount detection member such as a plate antenna installed in the container and the developer carrier. The electros...
