Problems solved by technology

[0010] However, figure 1 The US-oriented terrestrial digital television system has the problem that despite sending dual streams with added robust data, the poor transmission performance in multipath channels due to the transmission of existing normal streams remains largely unimproved
In other words, in a multipath environment, improved normal flows rarely improve reception performance, and robust flows have no significant impact on reception performance

Embodiment Construction

[0043] Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.

[0044] Figure 5 is a block diagram of a digital broadcast transmitter according to the present invention. Using Philips' proposed figure 1 The EVSB system to achieve Figure 5 digital broadcast transmitter. In detail, in a digital broadcast transmitter, stuffing bytes are added to MPEG-2 packets of a normal stream or a robust stream, the added stuffing bytes are replaced with known data, and transmitted. This known data is then detected in the receiver and used to compensate for distortions produced by the channel.

[0045] refer to Figure 5 , the digital broadcast transmitter has: a randomizer (110), used to randomize the data when normal data and robust data are multiplexed and input; padding byte replacement part (115), used to replace Stuffing bytes of a normal stream or a robust stream in randomized data; a first RS encoder (120) for performing Reed...

Abstract

Disclosed is a digital broadcasting transmission / reception system having an improved reception performance and a signal-processing method thereof. A digital broadcasting transmitter comprises a randomizer for inputting dual TS stream consists of robust and normal packets having stuff bytes inserted in predetermined positions and randomizing the dual TS stream; a stuff byte exchanger for replacing the stuff byte of a randomized data stream from the randomizer to a predetermined known data; and an encoder for encoding a data streams to which the known data is inserted. Accordingly, the present invention detects the known data from a signal received from a reception side and uses the detected known data for synchronization and equalization, so that the digital broadcasting reception performance can be improved at poor multipath channels.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a digital broadcasting transmitter and receiver, and more particularly to a digital broadcasting system that replaces stuffing bytes inserted into a data stream with predefined known data in a dual stream and transmits them to enhance receiving performance A broadcast transmitter and its signal processing method, and a corresponding digital broadcast receiver and its signal processing method. Background technique [0002] Advanced Television Systems Committee Vestigial Sideband (ATSC VSB) is a terrestrial digital broadcasting system for the United States, which is a single carrier scheme and uses a field synchronization signal every 312 segment units. Therefore, reception performance is not good in poor channels, especially Doppler fading channels. [0003] figure 1 is a block diagram showing a conventional transmitter for ATSC VSB. figure 1 The digital broadcast transmitter is an enhanced vestigial sideband (EVSB) s...
