Abstract

A steam generator for a washing machine, comprising: a sealed container having a water supply port for water supply and a steam exhaust port for discharging steam; a heater arranged in the sealed container for heating the water supplied to the sealed container ; and a drainage unit for discharging the remaining water in the sealed container to the outside. Therefore, the remaining water in the steam generator is discharged outside so that the steam generator is kept clean. Moreover, the drainage unit utilizing the principle of siphon is provided to drain the remaining water in the steam generator naturally without additional valve device, thereby reducing the production cost.
