Abstract

The invention discloses an inter-board communication method which comprises: connecting a single board of both parties for the inter-board communication with an external switching apparatus via an external link, transferring a message to be transmitted among the boards to the external switching apparatus via the external link, and transferring the message to the single board of the other party by the external switching apparatus using the external link. The invention also discloses an inter-board communication system. With the invention, the retransmission of the message among the single boards is completed by the external link and the external switching apparatus, without occupying the bandwidth of the intra-system channel and changing the structure of a system hardware platform. The invention can increase the bandwidth of th inter-board communication channel and solve the problem of insufficient bandwidth of the inter-board communication channel inside the system.
