The invention discloses a login method of optical network unit, which comprises sending login request message to an optical line terminal (OLT) during login process of an optical network unit (ONU), and sending notification message to higher level protocol suite if receiving login rejection message from the OLT; starting a timer when the higher level protocol suite of the ONU receiving the notification message; and when the timer excesses the predetermined value, the ONU starts waiting state, and restarting new login process. The invention reduces the negative impact of uninterrupted and high-frequency login trails from the illegal ONU. The uninterrupted login shall increase expenditure of system and decrease the bandwidth utilization efficiency of system.
