Embodiment Construction

[0022] figure 1 The upper part of a beer bottle 2 filled with beer to a water level 4 and having a neck 6 is illustrated. A downwardly facing peripheral shoulder 8 is formed on the outer surface of the neck slightly below the rim of the bottle.

[0023] see first figure 1 and figure 2 , the bottle is closed by a closure device comprising a closure plate 10 which is concave in shape so as to extend a certain distance into the neck of the bottle. The outer edge of the closing plate 10 is integrally formed with an annular connecting plate 12 extending above the edge of the bottle. The outer edge of the connecting plate 12 is integrally formed with a hanging skirt 14 extending downwards around the upper part of the neck. A sealing flange 18 is integrally formed on the inner surface of the hanging skirt 14 , and the sealing flange 18 is connected to the inner surface of the hanging skirt 14 through an integral hinge 16 . The sealing flange 18 is elongate and extends substantial...

Abstract

A closure for a beverage container (2), such as a beer bottle, includes a closure plate (l0), connected to which is a diaphragm (20), which together with the closure plate defines a gas reservoir (22). A movable portion (24) of flexible material is integrally connected to the diaphragm (22). The upper end of the 10 movable portion, which may be in the form of a tube (24) or pocket (3), is open and communicates with the gas reservoir and the other end is substantially closed and has a gas charge / discharge orifice (28) formed in it. The movable portion is connected to the remainder of the diaphragm by at least one pair of fold lines of opposite sense. When the closure is applied to a container, the gas charge / discharge orifice (28) is above the liquid level. The headspace of the container and the reservoir (22) are filled with pressurised gas and when the pressure is released the pressure differential across the movable portion results in rotation about the fold lines with the result that the movable portion moves away from the closure plate so that the gas charge / discharge orifice is situated beneath the liquid surface and the pressurised gas in the gas reservoir (22) is injected into the liquid in the container.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a beverage container and closure for a beverage container, which device is commonly referred to as a "widget". Background technique [0002] CO 2 The solubility in water increases, which means that because most of the CO 2 Remains in solution rather than appearing as bubbles rising from the liquid, so beverages may not take on the carbonated appearance at all. This phenomenon is particularly pronounced when it comes to beer, as consumers are used to seeing many beers, especially lagers or stouts, in a state of high "activity," that is, a lot of beer present in the beer. CO 2 Foam, with a rich "head", that is, covered with foam. For many consumers, the absence of a large number of rising bubbles and "heads" in the beer makes the beer sensory unappealing. [0003] It is known to equip beer containers (such as bottles or cans) with frothing devices or gadgets whose function is to inject a thin stream of high-pressure ...
