Embodiment Construction

[0077] figure 1 A first embodiment of the device according to the invention is shown, comprising an outer body 1 having a first end 1a, a second end 1b and a Middle section 1c. The outer body 1 has a cavity inside, and the cavity is divided into a first inner chamber 2a and a second inner chamber 2b. The first inner chamber has a first channel 3 leading out of the device and connected to a waste tube 8 . The second inner chamber again has two channels 4 leading to the outside. In the inner cavity is arranged an inner tube 5 surrounded by a partition 9 which surrounds the inner tube and divides the inner cavity into a first inner chamber 2a and Second inner chamber 2b.

[0078] The inner tube 5 made of inert glass is conventional per se and comprises a first section 5a arranged in the first inner chamber 2a, a second section 5b arranged in the second inner chamber 2b. The first section 5a of the inner tube ends at a first end 5c with an opening 5d, while its second section...

Abstract

The invention relates to an interphase injector device for the direct coupling of liquid chromatography and gas chromatography. The inventive device consists of: an outer body (1) comprising an inner cavity with two internal chambers (2a, 2b) which are separated by a divider element (9, 11a); a first passage (3) which extends from the first chamber (2a) to a waste product conduit (8); and an inner tube (5) which is disposed in the inner cavity and which extends through the divider element (9, 11a). The aforementioned inner tube is equipped with: a first segment (5a) in the first inner chamber(2a); a second segment (5b) in the second inner chamber (2b); an inner channel (5f) which can house an adsorbent material (6) and at least one inorganic wool material (7) which is retained inside thefirst segment (5a) of the inner tube by retaining means (7); and a first opening (10) which is communicated with the waste product conduit (8) solely by means of the first inner chamber (2a).

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention belongs to the field of instrumental analysis systems in analytical chemistry, in particular to the field of devices allowing the direct coupling of liquid chromatography and gas chromatography. Background technique [0002] Using a direct coupling of HPLC and GC is very useful for analyzing complex mixtures. The advantages of using such a multidimensional system essentially center on being able to combine the potential of liquid chromatography as a sample preparation technique with the potential of gas chromatography with respect to system performance (Grob, K On-line Coupled LC-GC. Hiitig, Heidelberg, Germany, 1991; Mondello, L.; Dugo, G.; Bartle, KD. J. Microcol. Sep. 1996, 8, 275-310). It is thus possible to utilize analytical methods that do not require the use of traditional sample preparation processes, which, in addition to being laborious and unreliable, have the disadvantage of requiring the use of relatively high quant...
