Abstract

The invention discloses a method for multicast admission control (AC) which can allocate a multicast resource to a multicast service in advance. The method comprises the following steps: a network device receives a multicast request and carries out the multicast resource AC operation for the multicast request; and when the multicast resource is insufficient, the network device carries out the multicast copy according to the multicast request and labels the low priority to the corresponding multicast stream. The invention also discloses a system for the multicast admission control which comprises a network device. The network device comprises a multicast protocol processing module, a local resource admission control function module and a multicast copy module. The multicast AC method and the multicast AC system can ensure rapid switch of the multicast service channels, reduce the information interaction between the network device and the resource admission control function or subsystem(RACF or RACS) during the channel switching process, and reduce the complexity of the network device with the built-in local resource admission control function.
