Fluoroscopic projections in both anteroposterior and lateral directions are used to confirm proper needle placement. If needle placement needs to be adjusted, then again confirm placement by fluoroscopy. A contrast agent (contrast medium) is injected to confirm needle placement. In patients with chemical radiculitis, leakage of contrast material through annular fissures and / or intradiscal lesions can be observed and thus identified.
