[0021] according to figure 1 , the electrohydraulic system 18 for controlling the hydrodynamic reducer 9 has a control and regulation unit 17 , a hydraulic circuit 5 , valves 4 , 8 , 10 , 11 and a common oil circuit system 23 . The hydraulic circuit 5 has a hydraulic pump 1 , a filter 19 , a heat exchanger 2 , and an on-off valve 4 . Furthermore, the control and regulation unit 17 is connected to temperature sensors 20 , 21 and to a pressure sensor 22 . The oil temperature is monitored by a first temperature sensor 20 and the temperature of the vehicle cooling system 3 is monitored by a second temperature sensor 21 . A pressure sensor 22 is provided to be able to monitor the actuating pressure for the gear unit 9 . The control and regulation unit 17 can preferably be connected to a controller area network (CAN) 24 . Furthermore, the valves 8 , 11 can be controlled by the control and regulation unit 17 . The first valve 8 can be used as a safety shut-off valve and the secon...

Abstract

The invention relates to a hydrodynamic retarder (9) for a motor vehicle. Said retarder (9) comprises a rotor and a stator and defines a shared oil system (23) with a transmission, said system consisting of an oil reservoir (12) and an oil sump (15) of the transmission and has an overflow edge (16). A control and regulating unit (17) is connected to valves (8, 11) and sensors (20, 21, 22). A hydraulic circuit (5) has a pump (1), a heat exchanger (2) and a valve (4) for controlling the retarder (9), a volume flow of the pump (1) being adjustable independently of the vehicle speed or the number of revolutions of the cardan shaft or the retarder. The oil reservoir (12) can be connected to a suction channel (13) of the pump (1) via a charge valve (10).

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a hydrodynamic retarder for motor vehicles of the type defined in detail in the preamble of claim 1 . Background technique [0002] In addition to the service brakes of motor vehicles, in particular trucks, which are usually friction brakes that are subject to wear, additional, frictionless retarding devices are provided by the vehicle manufacturer. Such retarding devices, such as retarders or engine brakes, can primarily be used to keep the vehicle's speed constant on downhill slopes. [0003] Gearboxes include hydrodynamic, hydrostatic or electrodynamic braking systems that are additionally arranged on the transmission or the engine, as well as such systems that are arranged in the transmission housing in the form of "ZF integral hydrodynamic retarders". In addition, the reducer is divided into a primary reducer and a secondary reducer, the primary reducer depends on the engine speed, and the secondary reducer depends on the...
