[0019] I. Membrane structure

[0020] figure 1 Illustrated is a membrane structure (10) comprising one or more microcups (11). The microcup includes a partition wall (16) and a top opening (17). The membrane structure (10) may be formed on a substrate layer (12), which may optionally include an electrode layer (not shown). There may also be an optional primer layer (15) between the microcups and the substrate layer (12). The microcups are filled with a liquid composition (13) and sealed on top with a polymeric sealing layer (14).

Abstract

The present invention describes a film structure which comprises a plurality of microcups and the microcups are filled with a liquid composition and top-sealed with a sealing layer which is hardened in situ. The liquid composition may be a display fluid or a pharmaceutical composition. The present invention is directed to a liquid crystal display, a display device and a transdermal delivery system.

Description

Background technique [0001] Various structures having a peripheral plate or wall containing a liquid component are previously known. For example, a liquid component can be filled between two parallel or nearly parallel surfaces, and in this case, the liquid component exists in continuous form. The two plates may first be edge-sealed with filling holes for subsequent filling of the liquid component. Alternatively, the liquid component can be dripped on one of the two plates (either before or after edge sealing adhesive is applied), and then a second plate is placed on top of the first plate to accommodate it between the two plates. liquid components. In some cases, a separator may be present in the continuous liquid phase to control the distance between the two plates. However, such a continuous liquid phase structure has certain drawbacks. For example, it lacks structural integrity and depth control, especially when the plates are flexible substrates (substrates). In addi...
