[0084]A series of solid expandable compositions according to the invention were prepared using the components shown in Table 1 . Each example composition also contains 4.1 wt% talc, 0.5 wt% zinc xylene sulfinate, 2.0 wt% TMPTMA, 1.3 wt% 1,3-bis-(tert-butylperoxy-iso Propyl) benzene (with CaCO 3 Together to form a powder; PERKADOX 14-40B-pd), 6.3 wt% of powdered polyethylene (ICORENE MP650-35, ICO Polymers, Inc.) and 0.1 wt% of antioxidant.

Abstract

Solid expandable compositions useful for the manufacture of cavity filler inserts and the like are obtained by combining at least one anhydride-functionalized thermoplastic, at least one amine-functionalized latent curing agent, and at least one latent blowing agent. Such compositions may be formulated so as to provide a highly expanded foam upon heating to activate the blowing agent wherein the foam is resistant to sagging and tolerant of over baking conditions.
