Abstract

Self-learning process for automatically adjusting a dosage (2) of a substance administered to a person (P) by a drug delivery device, a drug delivery device in which a dosage (2) of a substance is adjusted by such a self-learning process, and a drug delivery system comprising such a drug delivery device. Pain is experienced differently at certain times of day due to the origin causing the symptoms. Therefore, the medication providing pain relief should be adjusted accordingly. The invention is to anticipate the pain experience and to deliver pain relief medication in such a way that the quality of life is improved by an appropriate timing of the right amount of medication and by an appropriate timing of turning off the medication so as to reduce side effects.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a self-learning process for automatically adjusting the dose of a substance administered by a drug delivery device to a human, a drug delivery device in which the dose of a substance is adjusted by such a self-learning process, and a drug delivery device comprising such a drug delivery system. Background technique [0002] Differences do exist in the experience of pain, and a physiological basis for temporal variations in pain has been identified, such as circadian changes in plasma or brain concentrations of enkephalins or beta polypeptides. Differences in the circadian clock of disease may partly explain inappropriate pain management associated with drug overdose or underdose. [0003] In many diseases, pain is more severe at some times than at others. For example, arthritis is a common inflammatory disease of joints that work on a biological clock. The two main types of this disease are rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthr...
