The invention provides an alternating current contactor and a contact velocity control method thereof. The alternating current contactor comprises an electrical moving contact (1) and electrical static contact (2) which are opposite to each other and also comprises a movable core (3) and fixed iron core (4) which are opposite to each other, wherein the movable core (3) is mechanically connected with the electrical moving contact (1), a control coil (5) is placed in the fixed iron core (4), and a switch transistor (Q) is used to turn on / off the control coil (5), thus the fixed iron core (4) generates / eliminates electromagnetic attraction to the movable core (3) and drives the electrical moving contact and the electrical static contact to connect or disconnect. The alternating current contactor also comprises a contact velocity control device (6) which is used to perform closed loop feedback control to connect or disconnect speed of the electrical moving contact and the electrical static contact.
