Abstract

The invention provides a handover type based method for optimizing handover parameters in a wireless cellular communication system. The method comprises the following steps: firstly, determining the handover type according to handover priority information; and optimizing handover parameters according to the corresponding handover type. In the method, a service base station judges that user equipment UE belongs to one of a radio quality based handover type H1, a mobile speed based handover type H2, or load condition based handover type H3 according to the preset priority algorithm, and optimizes the corresponding handover parameter HOM (Handover Margin) and TTT (time-to-tiger) according to the handover type. The method optimizes the handover parameters according to the handover type of the user equipment so as to avoid the ping-pong effect and reduce handover time delay and unnecessary handover times.
