Abstract

The invention discloses a pulse replicating loop device used for improving a single nanosecond pulse measurement dynamic range. The device is characterized by comprising a 2*2 port 3dB beam splitter, an optical fiber attenuator, a first optical fiber isolator, a 2*1 port wavelength division multiplexer, a Yb<3+>-doped gain optical fiber, a second optical fiber isolator, an ASE filter and a 1*2 port optical fiber beam splitter, wherein the input end of a pulse replicating loop is connected with nanosecond pulse light source to be measured; and the output end of the pulse replicating loop is connected with a PIN tube and an oscillograph and is used for collecting a pulse replication string. By using the pulse replicating loop, an input nanosecond pulse is replicated into a series of uniformly-spaced pulse strings of which the amplitudes are exponentially decreased; and the PIN tube and the oscillograph receive an optical pulse sequence and perform data processing. An experiment shows that: a measurement dynamic range is improved by 2 to 3 times after progressive mean by replicating a single nanosecond optical pulse by using a simple pulse replicating loop.
