The micro-pressure electric rice cooker comprises a cover, a housing, an inner pot, an electric heating device, a power control device and a control circuit, wherein the housing comprises a chassis, and the inner pot is positioned above the chassis in an inner cavity of the housing; the electric heating device is electrically connected with the control circuit, and the electric heating device is positioned outside the inner pot in the inner cavity of the housing or below the inner pot on the chassis; the power control device comprises a pressure switch; the control circuit comprises a heating circuit, a thermal insulation circuit and a timer circuit; and the heating circuit and the thermal insulation circuit are connected in series and then connected with a normally closed contact of the pressure switch in series for being connected into a power supply. The control method of the micro-pressure electric rice cooker is as follows: when an electric heating plate R0 is heated to a certain degree, the pressure switch K1 acts for triggering the working of a timer switch, and the timer switch TK1 works continuously till the rice cooking or the congee cooking or the soup cooking process is finished.
