Abstract

The invention provides a single cavity tissue histology tissue-processor. A system and a method for processing tissue specimens, comprising a cavity for processing said tissue specimens, and a fluid transfer system to transfer at least one of a plurality of fluids from a plurality of storage containers to the inside and out of said cavity. The cavity is connected to at least one of a microwave generating device for applying microwave radiation to an inside of the cavity, and a thermal energy generating device for generating a positive thermal energy gradient inside the cavity.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to the processing of organ tissue samples to be subjected to further research. More particularly, the present invention relates to the processing of organ tissue specimens by at least a combination of microwave and thermal treatments. Background technique [0002] Pathology specimens for diagnosis and for anatomical pathology are currently prepared according to traditional methods which illustratively include: [0003] The tissue to be examined is first treated with formalin or saline solution to prevent decay and stabilize the tissue from physical and chemical stiffness. [0004] Recent pathology guidelines issued by the CAP (College of American Pathologists) and by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) for the U.S. market (specifically the limited protocol on breast tissue preparation) state that the tissue to be studied is Fixation in formalin should not exceed a duration of 48 hours. This limitation causes logistic...
