Abstract

The invention discloses a method and a system for refreshing an MAC (Medium Access Controller) in an Ethernet ring. The Ethernet ring comprises first kink nodes with midside nodes and boundary nodes executing the same private ring protocol and public protocol and at least one second kind node capable of executing the public protocol. The method comprises the following steps of: detecting the link state of the Ethernet ring by all nodes in the Ethernet ring; when the first kind nodes detect that the link of the Ethernet ring has a fault, sending a topology change message of the public protocol to the second kind nodes through the boundary nodes to refresh an MAC forwarding address table of the second kind nodes; and when the second kink nodes detect that the Ethernet ring link has a fault, sending a topology change message of the public protocol to the boundary nodes of the first kind nodes to refresh the MAC forwarding address table of the first kind nodes. The invention solves the problems that when devices of different manufacturers form a ring, successful docking cannot be realized, the MAC cannot be quickly refreshed, and the switching time cannot reach the telecommunication level requirement.
