Abstract

A non-stick coating composition comprising a waterborne phenoxy resin, a crosslinker, a silicone compound, and a Fluoropolymer. An article, such as aluminum, may be coated with the composition. The composition may be multilayers, but only the layers other than the first layer includes the silicone compound. The invention includes the method for applying the coating or coatings.

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to coating compositions with non-stick application. Background technique [0002] Non-stick coatings are well known in the art. Fluoropolymers are commonly used in these coatings because of the low surface energy and thermal and chemical resistance of these resins. However, non-stick coatings based on fluoropolymers are limited in terms of abrasion and flame contact resistance and adhesion to metal substrates. Such coatings are susceptible to damage when cut with a knife or other metal utensil. Rubbing or sanding also tends to wear away these coatings. [0003] It is also known to crosslink aqueous phenoxy resins with phenolic and melamine resins to form coatings for steel and aluminum. Non-stick coatings can be applied as a single or multi-layer coating.
