An instantaneous optical locating system of PTZ camera is provided. The system comprises: a wide angle camera, which is used to shoot a wide angle video in vision field of a large scene; a PTZ camera, which is used to shoot a partial amplification video in the vision field of the large scene; an operation maintenance platform, which is used for a user to intercept and click shooting image of the wide angle camera; a preposition processing apparatus, which is used to receive an instruction of the user, establish a coordinate relation mapping between the wide angle camera and the PTZ camera anddetermine amplification times of the PTZ camera. An instantaneous optical locating method of the PTZ is also provided. The method comprises the following steps: intercepting and clicking the shootingimage of the wide angle camera by the user; establishing the coordinate relation mapping between the wide angle camera and the PTZ camera and determining the amplification times of the PTZ camera; controlling the PTZ camera to align a target object. By using the system and the method of the invention, the intercepted or clicked wide area video image by the user can be converted into a PTZ motion control instruction so as to obtain the image optically amplified by the PTZ camera. Operation is convenient and processing is fast.
