Abstract

The invention discloses a digital television video on demand system, which comprises a video server, a cable modem terminal system (CMTS), a Cable Modem and an interactive digital set-top box. A policy server and an on-demand bandwidth management server are sequentially connected between the CMTS and the video server, wherein the policy server is used for judging whether a current network permits the addition of new user access or not and performing priority judgment; and the on-demand bandwidth management server converts a user traffic request into a packet cable multimedia (PCMM) standard protocol recognizable for both the policy server and the CMTS, returns a session creation request message to the video server to confirm whether an on demand request is transmitted or not.
