A method for remotely updating an ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) table, comprising the following steps of: searching for an ACPI table stored in the internal memory area of a memory in the startup process of a BIOS (Basic Input-Output System), and reading the data of the ACPI table; transmitting the read data of the ACPI table to a debugging host through a network; downloading the modified ACPI table from the debugging host through the network; writing the modified ACPI table in the corresponding internal memory area of the memory to take the place of the ACPI table stored in the memory previously. The invention also provides a system for remotely updating an ACPI table. The method is capable of remotely and independently modifying the ACPI table without re-generating a BIOS file or burning a BIOS chip.
