Abstract

Methods, substation automation equipment, and intelligent electronic devices (IEDs) for, but not limited to, distributing data only from IEDs (IED-derived data) are provided. The method includes assigning a unique identifier to one or more data fields, wherein the one or more data fields are associated with a short address attribute in data originating from the intelligent electronic device.
